Palmetto Volleyball Association
The Palmetto Volleyball Association, with the initial help of local clubs including Club South, have offered their coaches to create and expand the instructional volleyball content for Kudda. The PVA,Palmetto Volleyball will be adding new content weekly and Kudda is thrilled to add this regional association of US Volleyball to our site. Additional video will be contributed by other clubs and colleges throughout the region. The coaches from the PVA include: Corey Helle- Head Coach Wofford Entering his fourth season on the sidelines for the D1 Terrier volleyball program is head coach Corey Helle. He took over the team prior to the start of the 2002 campaign and has led a steady climb in the Southern Conference standings. Prior to being named the programâ€™s fifth head coach since its inception in 1980, he served as an assistant coach under Dr. Joe Bowman for two years, 1999 and 2000, and as the associate head coach in 2001. Prior to arriving in Spartanburg, he served as an assistant coach at Furman (1997-98) and South Carolina (1995-96). While with the Gamecocks, his primary duties were coaching the setters and teaching technical defense. The 1996 squad posted a 22-8 overall record, including an 11-5 mark in the Southeastern Conference. In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Helle has maintained a similar track in the Juniors where he has been a head coach since 1991. While in college at Nebraska, the 1994 Lincoln Sports Courts Volleyball Club team finished second nationally and had three players named All America. In 1995, while an assistant at South Carolina, Helle took the first Juniors team from South Carolina to the Junior Olympic National Championship in San Francisco. He currently serves as the technical director at the Club South Junior Olympic Volleyball Club in Spartanburg. He also served as the head coach of the 13s top team. Ashley Stathas is entering her first year as an assistant coach on the USC Upstate volleyball coaching staff and her second year overall as a collegiate volleyball coach. A four-year volleyball letter winner as a middle hitter at Lander University. After she finished her playing career, Stathas stayed at the Greenwood, S.C., campus for one more season as an assistant coach in 2005. After leaving Lander, Ashley became the Assistant varsity volleyball and head JV coach at Spartanburg High School. Ashley has been with Club south for 6 years. She started in Greenwood South Carolina where she opened a branch of Club South. Last year she was the 13 National team coach where her team was very successful and finished in the top 5 at The Tampa Qualifier and won the 13 and under regionals division . She is currently coaching the 14 National team this season. Her coaching experience also includes coaching camps during the summer at Wofford College, Clemson University and USC Upstate. Brittany Harry is in her first year as coach of the SMC Lady Pioneers Volleyball team. She played on the USC Upstate womenâ€™s volleyball team from 2002-2005 and served as its team captain in the 2005 season. Despite being plagued with knee injuries throughout her career at USC, she is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year for womenâ€™s volleyball at the college, as well as the the teamâ€™s second all-time digs leader. During her senior year, she was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference second team and was also a member of the Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll. Her coaching experience includes coaching camps during the summer at Wofford College, Clemson University and in Illinois. She also serves as a coach during the spring at Club South in Spartanburg. Club South is one of the largest clubs in the southeast for juniors aged 7-18. In 2007, she coached the 16 National team to a runner-up finish in the USAV Palmetto Region in Charlotte, NC, with two players being named named All-region.
